Paramount Bristol is delighted to join with the Bristol communities in celebrating the third Annual MLK Day citywide celebrations. Participants will gather in the Paramount Lobby at 1:30 pm for hot chocolate, cider and donuts before a march and program at the Bristol Train Station.
The march will begin at 2:00 pm and includes a commemorative photograph underneath the Bristol “A Good Place to Live” sign. The march concludes with a program held inside the Bristol Train Station from 2:30 pm — 3:30 pm featuring glorious music from The Tri-City Mass choir & King University choir.
At 7:00 pm that evening, Father Gregory Boyle, author & founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, will be speaking at Lee Street Baptist Church. Father Boylewill be speaking again on Tuesday, January 21, at 10:00 am at King University Memorial Chapel. Homeboy Industries is the largest gang-intervention rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. Father Boyle is the author of the 2010 New York Times-bestseller Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion and Los Angeles Times-bestseller Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship.
The MLK Day Celebrations are coordinated by The Bristol Train Station, YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and Appalachian Peace Education Center (APEC).
